6 Craft Ideas for Preschoolers This Memorial Day

Preschoolers enjoy patriotic activities just like everyone else. It’s an exciting experience that gives them the opportunity to learn the history of our country.

Happy Memorial Day

Here are 6 craft ideas for Memorial Day for preschoolers that they will find easy and love to do:

  1. American Flag Painting

Use small craft pom-poms to dab red, white and blue paint onto paper. Using clothespins to hold the poms, dab each color paint in the shape of a flag.
  2. Make American Monuments

Place pictures of the American monuments near the blocks. Show the kids how to make the different monuments with different colors and shapes of blocks and other available materials.
  3. USA Bracelet

Make a USA or America bracelet by stringing pony beads and letter beads on a pipe cleaner or heavy string. You can add other decorative beads as well.
  4. Firework Hands

Cut hand prints out of construction paper and glue on to a background paper. You can also put paint on the child's hands and make hand prints on the paper. Use glue to draw lines that represent the spray of fireworks and sprinkle on some glitter.
  5. Book of Patriotic Symbols

Create a small book out of paper and glue pictures of patriotic symbols on each page. You can also draw the symbols. Have the children color the pictures and write the words that represent each symbol. You can create a story with the symbols or put various symbols together along a time line.
  6. Patriotic Word Building

Use small magnetic letters that have been grouped together in words. Scramble the letters and let the kids put the words back together. Words can be repeatedly jumbled and remade giving each child an opportunity to play the game on their own.
