Activities to Express Your Gratitude This Teacher's Day
Whether your child loves his or her teacher or doesn’t like going to school, chances are their preschool teacher does all sorts of great things for your child. These are the people that play a huge role in a child’s life other than the parents. That’s why showing your appreciation and teaching your kids why their preschool teachers are special is important.
When and Why World Teacher's Day Is Celebrated?
World Teacher's Day is celebrated every year on October 5 to honor and recognize the contribution of teachers to education and learning. World Teachers’ Day commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation regarding the Status of Teachers. World Teachers’ Day 2017 will be observed under the theme “Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers”.
Here are six activities you can do with your kids to help them show their gratitude this upcoming World Teacher’s Day:
Arrange a Breakfast or Lunch
Organize a breakfast or lunch event at the school or on the weekend. Organize with other parents in your child’s class and always do the work and foot the bill. If nobody wants to cook, you can always take them out to lunch or buy them a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant in the area.
Craft a Simple Art
Make a simple art project with your kids. Even some macaroni art that spells out “World’s Best Teacher” or a similar sentiment can mean a lot. Just make sure you kids deliver the art the day they’re supposed to!
Show Love with Flowers
Send flowers to your child’s teacher. Everybody loves getting flowers at work and teachers are no different! Get the parents together to pitch in a few dollars each and you’ll be able to buy a wonderful bouquet.
Surprise Them with a Special Treat
Make a special treat with your child to give to their favorite teacher. Cookies, brownies and even things like homemade pies can really mean a lot. It is the best way to thank and express gratitude towards the teachers.
Don’t be afraid to offer gift cards, especially if you’re giving to a young teacher. Gift cards are a great way to show love and appreciato the teachers. This will help making this World Teacher's Day memorable for the teachers.
Buy Movie Tickets
Buy your child’s teacher something simple like movie tickets. Everybody likes going to the movies. This will make the teachers feel special and is the perfect way to celebrate their contribution in your child's life.
Buy Them Classroom Materials
Teachers spend most of their time grading assignments and taking down notes. Therefore, gifting them with classroom materials such as notepads, pen stands, markers, pens, and pencils will help them with their job and would be a great Teacher's Day gift.
Express Your Gratitude with a Personalized Tote Bag
Teachers have to take several items to and from school, including a lunch box, classroom supplies, a water bottle, etc. Buying your child's teacher a high-quality, customized tote bag shows them that you pay attention and care for them.
Gift Them a "Break"
Teachers work beyond standard school hours. They give up their family and personal time to review papers and tailor lesson plans for the next day. To release their stress and give them a sense of delight, you can gift them a "break" treat, such as either a round of golf or spa day. This will make them happy knowing that their extra effort is recognized and honored.
Appreciate Their Big Heart
Give your child's teacher a "Thank You" note that shows how much you appreciate their compassion, warmth, kindness, and patience, especially those moments when they go beyond the scope of their job to help you see the best in your child.
